Talking with a 2 year old.

Jaiden today 8/4/14

J: you're gunna die...(playing with toys)

Me: Jaiden don't say that...

J: but we say it every night?

Me: huh?

J: we say "and if I die before I wake..."

Me: wow you're right.  Well do you know what that means? To die?

J: yep

Me: what's it mean then...

J: like when you swat a fly with a fly swatter...

Me: but do you know what it means when a person dies?

J: it means you go to sleep

Me: and you don't ever wake up...

J: yep.  

He was so matter of fact and completely understood the concept. I don't think I wanted to go any farther than that just yet...in truth I didn't expect to have this conversation this early (he is still two).
